Christmas time is our favorite time of the year. It is also a time where we try to do as many activities together as a family that we can. We have a Christmas bucket list of activities that we wish to do each year or want to try. On our list has been building a gingerbread house at Young Chefs Academy in Gahanna.

We finally were able to do this activity and it did not disappoint! The Family Gingerbread House Decorating Session is a 45 minute session complete with all of the fixings and holiday cheer. You are provided a pre-built house, royal frosting, unlimited visits to the candy station, holiday music and cheer, base for the house, hot chocolate, and a box to safely bring your house home.

While you are building, a wonderful and helpful employee is with you to assist. We had the pleasure of Mikiyah working with us. She was fantastic with the boys and extremely polite. She would get the candy that the boys requested for the house and helped create our ice cream cone Christmas tree and snowman. She also kept our hot chocolate hot and filled with marshmallows, and provided useful tips on how to get some of the candy to stay on the house. When the house was complete she boxed our creation up and took pictures of our family.

I have to say that the family gingerbread house decorating session is a wonderful way to spend some quality time together as a family and work together to create something fun. We also enjoyed munching on some candy along the way and sipping yummy hot chocolate. We choose to create one house as a family. You may choose to create as many houses as you’d like. There were plenty of candy decorations and icing, and the 45 minute length of the session was perfect. We didn’t feel rushed at all, and Mikiyah would periodically keep us updated on our time.
